I'm putting a new Leupold quick release scope base and rings on my 450 Marlin. The first one would not hold the scope from slipping 'forward', the base would loosen up. I sent it back for inspection and the factory sent me their better model- apparently the quick release base/rings is heavier duty per the technician- for no extra cost. Great customer service at Leupold.
Leupold's tech said to not use threadlocker (blue Locktite) but to clean the threads and hold and use a small drop of high quality gun oil on all the set screws- base to gun and the rings.
What say the GS? Use oil as recommended or blue Loctite when I put it back on?
