As far as I know, the government (local, state or federal) does not keep a database of serial numbers my television, my computers, my microwave, my printer or any of many other items in my home with serial numbers.

Why do they need to know what guns I have?

Itd be good to include the present day country of mexico... Guns and ammo are banned there.... Look what happens there... no one can stand up for anything or they are killed by the government or the gangs. AND YES THE GOV IS CORRUPT TOO
