You need 50, but you would be dumb to show up with less than 100.

      To OP's question.....50rds minimum

I have taken and requalified 4 times. Every time I go, I take a 9, 40 and 45 with at lease 100rds of ammo for each, extra eye and hearing protection.....etc. Every time I have qualified, someone's pistol has taken a dump on them. The most recent was an elderly gentleman with a early 50's model Colt 1911 and a box of ammo that looked like WWII surplus. He shot the 3yd rounds with a malfunction on every string. I asked the instructor if we could stop for a moment. Went to the man and asked him if he'd like to finish with my Kimber 1911. Gave him my Kimber and a box of ammo to finish qualifying.....no more issues.

My understanding is you must have US made ammunition. The Russian stuff and handloads are not allowed. Some instructors may overlook this but I've had two friends see this first hand recently.
