My friend and his wife are taking it this weekend and I don't think they've ever fired a pistol before. He said surely they have guns and bullets there, don't they? I told him I don't think so, you might want to ask before you go to the range with no pistol or ammo. I feel for the guy giving the course, I bet they have a few stories to tell.

You need at least 50. Our instructor told us to take 100 total, since he was going to show us a few things afterwards. I'm glad he did. It was very informative, if not humbling.

Haha, yeah he definitely needs to ask the instructor before even showing up to class. Most of them have rentals they make available of course. And yes, the qualifying course is 50 shots and if u can basically hold a gun u can pass it.

You just have to score a 175 I think

My friend that holds CHL classes includes 100 rounds in the price he charges. He then lets the person come back at a convenient time for them and walks them through a practise round then the real deal. For those that don't have much experience with the handgun, it gives them a chance to know what to expect and get rid of some of the jitters. But 50 rounds is all that is required.

Also know that if you qual with a semiauto you can carry either semi or revolver but if you qual with a revolver you can only carry a revolver...
                          And yes 50 rds. 20 at 3yds, 20 at 7yds and 10 at 15yds.

It's really easy to shoot a good score. I don't see how some folks miss

I have only shot my 9 mm a handful of times and scored a perfect 250
