Lucky u! If I buy another varmint gun it will be either a 204 or 17 hornet. Most likely a 204. And it will mostly be used for small game smaller than coyotes. But see I don't even know what I would use it for. It would be a dang good turkey gun! But idk my 22-250 would still be my go to varmint gun lol

To me it's just hard to beat a 22-250.

Howa is a good gun and I like the DM option. I just like 700s and there's parts at every gun store for them generally .

223 because the ammo is so easy to find. I'd go with a 22-250 if you don't want and AR platform.

Neither! Just shoot the 243 and it will do all you need to do. A 243 has great ballistics.

Sold my 22-250 for 700 in 223. Much easier to see impact

Would this be a good scope for the 223. I know there are better scopes out there but need to cut cost somewhere.

What are you wanting to spend max on the scope? Not real sure I would put a 90 dollar scope on a 500 dollar gun. Might look into redfield or vortex and just a plain 3-9x40 to keep the cost low or maybe jump up to the 4-12x40 in either redfield or vortex for around 200 bucks. Also on the vortex arrowsmith on here can hook you up with a good deal and push the cost down to around 175ish.

I would go with the .22-250 in the Remington. Think about it, .223 and .22-250 shoot the same bullet. One has 20-25 gr of powder behind it, one has 30-35 gr behind it. 250 shoots flatter, if you need to reach out and touch one. If you want to shoot hogs, with a .223 you better hit them in the noggin unless you shooting a lead nose and I would still shoot them in the head with that. If your considering just sticking with the .243, that's a good idea but I'm in the same boat with no available ammo except for 100gr psp and it doesn't shoot great out of my gun. You have the best hog/varmint gun, but you always need another gun.

This, I've had barska binos and that is money wasted, unless it's for a .22 or so. My rule is always put a scope on that's the same value of the gun, with some exceptions and there are cheaper good quality scopes nowadays. It all comes down to preference and what exactly you will use it for but IMHO...barska is for trotlines.

Thanks I really haven't made my mind up yet but I did pick up two boxes of 223 at academy over the weekend. Got a friend that has 223 and 22-250 in 700 SPS going to give them a try
