Help me choose varmint gun

Trying to decide between 223 or 22-250. I have a 243 now and want to change it up a little and have a nice gun for coyotes and occasionally pigs if the come out. Which gun would you. Choose

I got a Remington R-15 in 223.

22-250 hands down.. It out performs the .223 for sure

17 hornet, 17 Remington, or .204 ruger only due to availability of .224 caliber ammo and reloading supplies.

Then go with the .204. It's a heck of a round for sure and will do it's part if you do yours. It will do fine of coyotes out to 300+ and will do a number on a pig

Should be fine i have killed hogs at 100 yards with a 22 magnum just shoot them in the ear. Also a guy i hunt with kills does with his 17 Remington at 200 yards with head shots so i dont see a problem.

I use a .17hmr and .204, I use the .17 the most often. I've killed plenty of pigs past a hundred yards. Like some said above shoot them in the ear. .204 will lay 'em down too, I use the 32gr Vmax and it'll pop their eyes out of their head.

But to answer your OP, if cost to shoot isn't a problem, then I would go with 22-250

Love my 22-250!! 223 and 204 are great also but if I had to choose it would be the 22-250.

.22-250 would be my choice. I shoot it more that my .223.
