Who can build me a 257 Roberts for my Daughter?

Not a $4000 high end. Just a bolt action with a 20" barrel with about a 12 inch LOP. Or even an adjustable LOP. I just shot one a few minutes ago next to my lil sis's 243. Both rifles the same weight. And the 257 had a gentler/slower recoil. Mainly slower. Im not worried about round availability cuz ill have em custom made or just buy Hornady's. thanks.

not that I'm aware of

I was gonna suggest a cheap wood stock that you can modify with spacers and recoil pad. she can increase LOP over the years as she grows

Have you thought about going with a .250 savage? I have a .257 Roberts and like it but the .250 savage is a sweet round with low recoil. Ammo is a little easier to find on the .250 savage also.


Edit: Just read you didn't care about finding ammo. But I tell ya the .250 is a sweet little gun lol.

Kool. I'm sure Cajun can tell you which is better. But I feel in love with the .250 during hunting season. Kicks like a .22-250 and drops then in the tracks.

The 1st centerfire rifle I ever owned was a Savage model 99 featherweight takedown in 250 savage....I finally traded it off because I couldn't get it to shoot the 100 gr.handloads as accurately as I wanted and mistakenly thought that the 87 gr.[which it shot into 1 hole] were too light for South Texas whitetail deer...Many years later, I have gone full circle and now own a Savage Model 45 Super Sporter in 250-3000,with a factory set trigger...It is one of the most accurate rifles I own and does a great job on deer...with less recoil than a 243...

Look at the lite rugers, 77rl is ultralight with 20" light contour barrel. They have a 16 1/2" carbine length gun too. Hack the wood stock and you are good to go pretty cheap!

I have been trying to buy one in .257 Rob but hard to get. My .257 is a pump 760.

I dont want it to be too light. I'll have her on shootin sticks and be the one packin it. So i'd rather it be closer to standard weight to keep the recoil to a minimum.
