What pompted this is...If I am in my vehicle and need to discharge my weapon through glass (windows up) or metal (door) on first round, what would I want to be the first round?
Or am I over thinking this?

I work in a police department with about 127 officers. In the 29 years (so far) that I have worked and if I counted right, we have shot and killed 9 people. None have been through a vehicle windshield going either way. That is guys and girls that go in harms way 24 hours a day. If you really want to get into it, if you were in your vehicle, why would you simply not drive over the suspect or drive away than stay static in a locked down place where you can't even move if the guy closes the distance on you. There have been several officers in this country killed because they sat in the vehicle and were trapped.

The odds of your life depending on a fatal shot through a windshield are probably less than winning the lottery.

I used to do the same with my PT145 until I learned that the shotshells don't really cycle well in the autos.

Odd my Sigma in 40SW cycles them perfectly.

I've only tried them in the Taurus, but have heard similar results from other shooters.

Now the reason for my post. I was recently involved in a scenario that an individual did come at me while my vehicle was not able to be moved. He had of all things a cross shaped lug bolt wrench, I did grab my pistol and held it in my lap, hoping he would not advance. He did, I raised it and then he turned on his heel and left.
I do know that, if I had to fire...1. it would have been at point blank range; 2, would have damaged my hearing severely...not good considering I already have tinitus.
This episode left me shaking like a leaf and reconsidering a lot of How I do things....always leave myself an out.
