    1911's which one??

Yep, I asked it. I don't have one... Just was looking and wondering. I know I want a full size in .45 caliber. (yes they are made it other calibers). I'm not too savy on 1911's but I do like shooting them when I have shot them. I know I can't go wrong with a few of em in the list here. Just wondering what brand everyone else would choose if they could have any of them. I'm not buying on anytime soon,, but when I do I'll buy quality. What's yall's suggestions?

I can't really answer which is best, but I'd encourage you to at least include STI in the discussion when it comes time. Their quality is top-notch, customer service is over-the-top, and of course they support this site through sponsorship. Having "local" representation with Chris as a member doesn't hurt, either!

Say no to High Standard. Uncle has one and it's not so top notch.

Wilson combat has some slick looking 1911s with 1" at 25yd guarantee. One of these will likely be my next but it will be down the road because most are in the 3-5k range.

I have a few in mind I'm just keeping my opinions to a minimum to see what others thoughts are and or experience. Money is not a factor I save up what I need to get what I want, but for reasonable purposes I can not see spending over $3000 on a quality 1911. The 1911 is the only handgun I'll ever own that I'll pay this kind of money for.

Ya, I wont think twice about not spending 5K on any handgun. The only things I'll have that will see 5K plus are custom rifles with S&B or March scopes included lol.

On the low end, Citadel is not a bad gun. Next, a lot of people don't like them, but a Taurus. It is a well made gun, has a good trigger and is accurate. Next for me is between a colt and a Para. I've had all of the last three and have no complaints with any of them. Kimber is trying to compete with the other production guns and in my opinion is not worth the money any more. The higher end, Wilson Combat, STI, Nighthawk are all fantastic guns, just do you want to spend that kind of money and then carry it around with you in the truck, woods, where ever? I don't even like carrying my Colt around so it basically sits in the safe. My carry gun is a Para Warthog with night sights. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
1911's are nice. I even had to buy a Sig P238 just because it's like a baby 1911.

                        1911's and Glocks forever.
