I have the same expectations for the wsm.. except that I think it will fail miserably... Theres already a pretty full room in the niche around the 17 caliber...

17hmr is out there in MASS, 22 mag has been around longer... and then obviously the 22 lr aint going no where...

I just dont see how theres room on the MAIN STREAM market for the 17wsm...

Every body owns a 22lr... most people have either a 17 hmr or 22 mag... not many people own a 17 rem, 17 hm2, 17 bee, or .17 Aguila/.17 PMC...

I just dont see room for it.

I just picked up a 17hmr in a CZ rifle. It shoots very well. Haven't shot anything with it yet though. May try to find a little piggie this weekend to test.

17hmr is here to stay and is an awesome little gun. 17hm2 will be long gone soon IMO. I still think I prefer the 22mag to the 17 now that there is much better ammo choices than there was 15 years ago. Buy with confidence they are a blast to shoot.

The Savage with the thumb hole stock is a tack driver.

If you are wanting something not quite as accurate and harder hitting, look at the proven 22mag. Ammo is a little cheaper and still fun to shoot.
x2. like my .17 but dont leave home without my .22 mag.

I think it's a bunch of marking hype and the .22 mag is better when you look at the whole picture.

I'd stick with the .22 mag
