        More accurate than a 22 mag.....yes. More energy/harding hitting......no.

The 17HMR is a very accurate round. I have shot .43" groups with my Savage at 100yds. It is fun, relatively inexpensive to shoot and consistantly good for game fox size and smaller. I have used it coyote hunting and its marginal. Shots have to be perfect and in vitals. Shoulder hits with the tiny bullets result in injured animals, more times than not.

The 17HMR is here to stay.....but there is a new rimfire cartridge coming out this year that is rumored to have better performance that may cut into the 17HMR's popularity.

If you are wanting something not quite as accurate and harder hitting, look at the proven 22mag. Ammo is a little cheaper and still fun to shoot.

I shot a rabbit once with mine at 25 yds. When I went to skin it i pulled him in two. Shot was behind shoulder cause I couldn't see it's head. Great for small prey and varmints. I have seen several good size hogs taken with one also. Out to 80 yds.

IMO best rim fire weapon and one of the MIT accurate you'll every shoot. Very good gun.

[ATTACH]459368 here's mine. My wife bought it for my birthday 2 years ago she drove all the way to bass pro shop in Katy to pick it up. My favorite gun for hunting rabbits.

Got my dad one for Christmas and we both freaking love it
Favorite gun to date. And it will drop a yote from 250 yards

I work at Academy and through out this ammo shortage we are in 17. hmr has stayed on the shelf where 22 lr is hard to find, just more expensive. Love mine and would tell anyone to get one

It will drop more than a rabbit or squirrel with proper shot placement.

I have the same gun as lesson 101 also. I love it! Was sitting in a stand with it waiting for a fox that always hits my feeder, put the fox down no problem. Later that night so pigs came in. Ear holed one and he didn't make it anywhere. I love the gun!

Tack driving, yote, bobcat, and hog killer with proper shot placement.

i would say its here to stay, very effective, very accurate.. great small varmint caliber, can and has been used effectively on hogs and coyotes.. i doubt it was ever intended for animals that large... but it delivers well if accuracy is applied ,,, i bought one years ago primarily to squirrel hunt ,,,,, way to much for that.. went back to the 22. i might someday try a 17mach2
