Best 1911 under 1000$

As the title says I am looking for the best 1911 under a grand it will be a police duty weapon so needs to be reliable as well as accurate thanks

The STI Spartan is the best for under $800. I think It retails around $600-$650. Once you hit the $800-$850 mark other better ones become availible. Look for a used Colt or STI. I wouldn't go with Kimber. They're over priced and aren't built as good. If you find a "good" deal on a used one I'd get it but unless they mark em $200-$300 down, I'd never buy a used one.

Ruger wouldn't be bad and you would have money for holster ammo etc,

But if u shopped around for a clean used sti or colt like big tex said u will be happy.

I just picked up a Remington R1 Enhanced and really like it. Only complaint is that the grips are textured a little too aggressively.

My handgun guy told me a few months ago that he got a Remington R1 in his shop and took it out to shoot side by side with his Ruger SR1911. He said he was very surprised and the R1 will out perform the Ruger any day of the week. This is coming from a Ruger guy.
