I have a 10X42 on my .308 and it suits my needs fine to 600 yards. Its repeatable and hold's it's zero well. There are better scope's but for the money it perform's great.

My nikon does not track. if I adjust the turrets 4 clicks up, then come back down 4 clicks.. my zero is off... It holds a zero ok, but if I mess with it, my zeros gone..
Wow bud that's an "odd" statement... Burris is like Barska AND Nikon? lol. I can't speak for turret use but rely on my range finder and holdovers. Trust me bud, even the most top end Barska can't compare to the lowest end Burris. Or Nikon for that matter...

True 1 from what I can tell. I run it on my 3 gun rifle and it has made a huge improvement in my shooting, both close and long range.

I am a huge fan. I was thinking of upgrading to the 1x6, but they are running back ordered.

          really? lol!!!!

          geez....

          barska blows....

          nikon aint bad....

          but monarchs track true....

but for a fella who is fixing to dump a ton of money into a few guns, or talking about doing it, i really think you need to learn some more and start at a mid level rifle and optic package before you blow a ton of money....

I have 2 Nikon monarch X scopes that will do anything you ask them to.... They have been great scopes! Crank the crap out of them and always go back to zero every time! The lower end nikons I have never owned so dont know how they do.

              What am I missing?
Oh dont you know a $300 scope will blow a $2,000 scope out of the water any day of the week..

The reason people associate Tasco with the super sniper, is Tasco originally sold the scope. Quality was way above typical Tasco standards. At some point SWFA came in and bout the super sniper line and rebadged it SS distancing themselves from Tasco. Swfa now fully owns and distributes the scopes but they are essentially the same as they were originally. The swfa scopes are built super tough. They are now built on mil/mil design. The have stupid amounts of vertical adjustment 150+ moa. They do not feature zero stops but turrents are resettable.

Glass on the standard model does leave a bit to be desired. My vortex hs was quite a bit more clear. Additionally for hunting a 10x is pret tight for sub 100 yard shots, but I hunt with a guy that swears by them and has made 40-60 yard shots on Yotes at night.

The feel of the clicks isn't as crisp as vortex or Nikon for that matter but still plenty defined to make accurate adjustments.

Also on the rear focus becomes a bit more difficult to make shots at different ranges without focus issues. The side focus model fixes tht but they get $100 more.

The swfa 3-9x42 is the cheapest Ffp scope available built on a respected company. Same glass and features as the 10x42.

The HD models are supposed to be great but the price matches. The newer 5-20 is their true long range competeor. They are competing with the viper pst and nightforce. The price point is just about where they rank. I however had not looked through or handled either of their top end glass.

Can't argue with that... who makes it doesn't bother me.. as long as it works... I may buy the 10x one and put it to the test just to see..
