    I would hunt with it after getting it checked out. That is what that gun was built for and that is what your Grandfather bought it for. Side by sides make wonderful bird guns. I still bird hunt only with my two Winchester side by sides.

      i have shot mine several times and not once worried about barrel integrity. Those guns also have a extreme amount of recoil. also use the back trigger first.

        Not true, use the front trigger as it is the more open choke. You save the tighter choke for the longer shot if you miss.

          I got some oldies too. Just oil em up and put em in the back of the safe for god conversation pieces.

            There was an old shotgun like that sitting in the corner of my grandfathers kitchen when I was a kid. Disappeared right before my grandmother passed away. Nobody knows where it is. Really sad.

              My dad has his grandads old double, poor shape, as loose as a Dodge truck interior. They looked it up and the general consensus was not to shoot it.
