    .22LR ammo preferences

I always just bought the cheap Remington Thinderbolt bricks.

I am now looking for suggestions something that might be a little ‘better quality’ for accuracy. Both in hypersonic and subsonic.

    Thanks.

I've always liked the CCI minimags in the solid bullet. The CCI CB subsonic are very quiet. I guess you can say I prefer CCI.

I almost exclusively shoot CCI Standard. It’s not too expensive, accurate and it’s subsonic for my suppressor use. I have some supersonic stuff that I bought back when 22lr was hard to get, and that feeds my pistols(still subsonic out of the pistols). But all I buy now is CCI standard.

Eley, but it can get expensive...the sub-sonic hollow points are awesome w/ noggin shots on quail @ 50yds. The Tenex / Biathlon Match and the like are in a whole other class, but you really need a good gun to go with them.

My kids shot for accuracy for several years. Heavy barrel 10/22's. I tried lots ans I mean LOTS of ammo. Most v consistent ammo I found was green box remington. Not thunderbolt.

I shoot lots of different brands. All of them are minute of stray cat, slow possums, or rooting armadillos. If I wanted to hit something small, CCI Mini Mags.

X3 runs subsonic and flawlessly in my Ruger Charger pistol with a Dead Air Mask suppressor.

I still have about 2 1/2 bricks of the old yellow box Winchester SuperX that I have shot for over 30 years... Still the most accurate 22LR ammo I've ever tried and I've tried a lot of different "premium" rimfire ammo. My brother has an Anchutz bolt gun that is a tack driver with the yeller box SuperX too... The new SuperX is pretty good too, but not as good as the old stuff.
Kind'a funny but I think I still have some of it and the green box Remington with price stickers on them at 50 Cents!!

I’ve had good accuracy with sk match and sk long range match in my Rim X.

Staying standard or subsonic gets the best consistency in accuracy. CCI standard and norma are great and cheap within 50 yards. If you want to push 100 to 300, then you have to play between SK, Lapua, Tennex which gets expensive quick. But in the long range game, lapua and tennex are hard to beat for accuracy
