Also, have you ever shot Xpert steel? It is about the worst shell out there. People saying there are more pellets for the same load is true, unfortunately you will have to shoot like #6 steel for dove and there's about 100 pellets less than #8 lead.

I do not shoot expert nor do I recomrnend it. also you dont need #6 steel for dove. I shoot teal and wood ducks with 5 and 6 steel. the scheels load for 11.99 is fiocci and has a great reputation

I have shot plenty of doves with steel while teal hunting in sept. It works great & kills. All those complaining, I understand ,but in the end everyone for the most part will suck it up & shoot steel. If you can't afford the shells ,you dang sure can't afford the fuel ,leases etc to go hunt.

Steel absolutely sucks compared to lead when it comes to ballistics and killing stuff in real life. It's simple physics. Lighter shot, you need bigger and faster pellets to carry the same energy as slow heavier shot. Steel works ok for the most part if you use it within reasonable range. It just irks me that something that works better, and has been cheap for so long is being taken away at the whim of some enviro-nuts who can't prove their claim that lead is killing us all.

It's not about affording it. Hell I spend more on dedicated leases and outfitters for dove than many on this forum. Its the principle of the matter and the bull**** libtard "science" behind it in the name of conservation for doves. If the state must make some folks shoot steel and satisfy the green peace libtards, then do it on state and public lands to throw them a bone (I'm against that as well) ....but I'd like to have them stay off the private man's land and azz. The last thing we need is more regulation on private property in this world.

We used to call them ‘confetti loads’.

                  They are horrible.

I had a couple of boxes when I started duck hunting about 25yrs ago and didn't know any better. Just brutal man, confetti loads is very fitting!!!

You're totally missing the point but keep justifying it. They just chipping away one little piece at a time. I hope my grandkids will have the opportunity to hunt if they choose to. And I dang sure hope they can afford it if they choose to take advantage of that opportunity.

I know exactly where yall are coming from. I hate it more than yall do. I grew up hunting everything with lead. I'm just messin with everyone. The crying about how much it cost etc, premium lead loads are more than cheaper steel now. If you can't afford the shells ,you don't need to be out there. One thing is for sure, if the AZZCLOWNS at tpwd have thought about going to it ,it is done deal. tpwd has turned into a woke pos agency.

David, I meant more towards teenagers hunting local farm and crop land before and after school . I worked and most of my money went towards gas , hunting and fishing. I doesn’t equal out anymore so it’s definitely a bit more of a stretch in my opinion.

It’s illegal to hunt ducks over a waterhole with lead shot. But I can shoot clay pigeons with lead shot over that same water hole and it is legal. Will shooting skeet and trap soon require non toxic shot?

Na, the birds and animals don't eat those pellets
