F using steel on dove.... We've given up enough to the liberal environmentalists and agencies.

Next thing you know they'll want us all in electric cars, mowing our grass with electric lawmowers and shutting down all the coal plants for windfarms....

Moving to steel is stupid, was for waterfowl and still is. All it was done for was to price people out of waterfowl hunting at the time by the bunny huggers but used the "environment" and some bird is going to pick up a piece of lead and eat it...........Steel ends up wounding more waterfowl than it "saves".........

This. Maybe not as long as I hunt but I typically keep a few years advance in stock. Unless TPWD wants to trade me shell for shell they can wait until I'm out of lead.

If they are "thinking about it" it is a "done deal".

            That is how they work.

Double the cost is minimal? Cuz from what ive seen thats about the difference

nowhere near double. steel shot in dove loads is not the same price as duck loads. just a quick search shows Scheels has dove load steel at $11.99 a box while academy monarch brand lead is 10.99. academy even has duck load steel for $14

.........if they can afford steel, then they can afford tungsten. If they can't afford tungsten then they shouldn't be hunting..........

                    Am I doing it right?

Hell, if they can afford tungsten, then they should just fly to Argentina to hunt dove. If they cant afford argentina, then their broke asses should just stay home and leave it up to the elites

doing it correct if you want to show your ignorance. steel is very similar in price as lead (sometimes cheaper ) , tungsten is nowhere near either.

My ignorance?????? I'm not the one deciding for other people what they can afford or what they should spend their money one. The whole thing is asanine.

Seriously....how the hell can anyone support this nonsense? Just another thread here that shows just how screwed the future (and present) of hunting really is

..........and it's not cheaper if you have to shoot twice as many shells because the birds you hit keep flying off

                            TPWD has become retarded.

Also, I hunt sandhill’s with LEAD while I am hunting dove with LEAD.

Great new marketing opportunity for the steel market....

"Steel shot........the preferred loads for all you catch and release dove hunters!"

This just isn't true. Now the cost difference has shrunk a little bit since they doubled the price of lead shot beforehand to accommodate your justification. Everyone knew it was coming, and most called BS. You bought in and that's your right.

Using lead shot is about #40,000 on the list that humans need to worry about as far as 'cleaning up the environment'. And yes, hunting has just about become too expensive for the common man. That's the goal!

                                Catch and release.....lol
