    Am I Old-Fashioned?

This just doesn't look "right" to me--I'm a blued steel and walnut kind of shooter (Ruger 77 and Win M70). This just looks like something out of Star Trek/Star Wars. But, I suppose it is whatever the shooter likes--

Same with all the new cartridges. American Hunter magazine seems to have an ad for a new cartridge in each issue. And, in this issue it had a telling article about folks who are eaten up with long distance shooting but insist on using light (and inappropriate) calibers, resulting in lots of wounded animals.

    Guess I'm just getting old--

I do have a couple "ar guns" but I prefer blue steel and wood in everything else.

I have an AR as well--but topped with a thermal for feral hogs--

I have AKs and ARs for different purposes, but I shoot an Alamo Precision .280 Rem for my deer rifle most of the time. Not blue steel and walnut, but still a Remington 700 pattern bolt action. Nobody chambers a rifle in .280 anymore.

I also shoot and carry polymer pistols but my true loves are single action revolvers. So, to answer your question……yes, you are old fashioned, and it’s alright ! If, for some ungodly reason I had to give up all my rifles except one, and all my handguns except one, I would be left with a Winchester Big Bore 94 in .375 Winchester and a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. But I don’t have to, so I’ll continue to have a mix of old and new, ‘cause I would really hate to give up my ARs in 6.8 SPC and my G20, or my S&W M&P 10 mm, or……….

And for the record, I think most of the long range rifles are uglier than Hillary Clinton !

It’s a Savage in a MDT chassis. Even if you weren’t old fashioned I’d hope you still found it ugly!

I feel the same way about these as I do muscle cars. Some people really like them, I find them a little tacky. Guess I'm a little old fashioned, too.

A Savage is not the most svelte rifle around, but they dang sure perform ! Two of the most accurate rifles (off the shelf) that I’ve owned were Savages. My 22-250 was a legit one-holer with Hornady 40 grain bullets. Many coyotes fell to it !

Chassis have their place. Wouldn’t say you are old fashioned. Nothing wrong with liking the classics. To each their own.

Muscle Cars? That may be a line that cannot be uncrossed

You won’t hear me complain about how they shoot, but you also wont hear me deny they’re ugly as sin haha

Ugliest part of a Savage rifle is the back end of the bolt and the bolt handle.

I’m pretty clumsy. I find myself constantly tripping over that line…
