    Ruger shotguns

    Question for the green screen

Ive got an opportunity at a ruger red label 20 ga, good not great condition, 28” fixed choke barrels. Probably an early to mid 80’s model and i think it’s reasonably priced.

i currently have a yildiz spz me 20 ga, 28” barrels, all chokes plus a skeet choke i bought. I’ve used it on two skeet shoots and two opening dove days. Very well taken care of, not a scratch on and I still have the box it came in. It’s a 2018 that’s had maybe 150 rounds down it.

so my question is - I’ll need to sell the yildiz to buy the ruger. Is the ruger that much more well built and valuable?

I’ve got another shotgun that i primarily shoot so this 20 ga o/u is a fun change of pace and my wife likes shooting a few times a year.

this may be a dumb question but i figured it worth asking.

I own a Ruger Red Label 20 that I’ll absolutely never sell…dream to shoot and they don’t make them any longer.

Which one do you like better ? I've never shot a Yildiz but in my opinion after looking at them, yes, the Ruger is a much better shotgun. Check the lever position when the action is closed. My 20ga Red Label will never get sold.

When I find the right one a 20ga red label is what my grandson will be shooting.

I had a Yildiz 12 ga., loved carrying it but it was lighter than your common shotgun and it kicked like a mule!
Can't say much about the Red Labels other than they are pretty to look at, solid guns but just too heavy for my
liking. I understand it will help with the recoil but don't think I'd want to carry it much in the field.

Everything about the ruger is better. The barrel selector in the trigger guard alone is worth the swap. I have a yildiz and I like it, but its no ruger

Have no idea what other shotguns weight but the Ruger is not bad to pack around. I take my sons 12ga when he's not using it.

They are about equal in quality, There is a reason you don't see red labels at compitition shoots.

Disregard. On some shotguns the lever position when closed will tell you how much wear the action has. New guns the lever will be centered or slightly right of center. Guns with more wear the lever may be left of center. I don't know why but this doesn't appear to be an accurate guage with the Ruger.

Fixed choked guns aren't going to fit all your various clay & hunting applications...full choke at the skeet range sucks.

Yildiz is the same quality as a ruger ..?? Please I don’t think so.
Buy the red label. You can always take it to Brileys for chokes.

I remember Ruger producing an all stainless Red Label. I know it came in 12ga. But not sure if it came in 20ga. I have seen some of the 20ga receivers in stainless with blued barrels.

Red Label all the way! I have 2 Red Labels, 1 Gold Label and 1 Yildiz. The Yildiz is ok, but I keep it for a loaner.
The Gold Label never shot as they were only made for a few years
