Randy,
Thank you for initiating this thread.
It's been great!
You are apparently quite the accomplished handgunner
My question to you is ...
... to what frequency, in your experience, has an immediate follw-up shot been required?
I ask this because I don't own a revolver and I hunt exclusively with single shot firearms.
Thank you, sir.

I’m posting this here because it seems fitting. I don’t know how many of you know who John Taffin is, but for those of you who do or would be interested, he passed away last night. John was a school teacher by trade and a prolific gun writer in his spare time and in his retirement. He loved handguns, especially sixguns. He was an authority on the subject as he had truly “ been there and done that”. In the last few months we have lost three great gun writers, Mark Hampton, Duke Venturino, and now John Taffin.
If it could be done with a sixgun, Mr. Taffin has done it. He shared a great wealth of knowledge in the last 50+ years. He wrote several books and reading them is almost like talking to a friend. If you like sixguns, and you haven’t read Mr. Taffin’s work, you owe it to yourself to hunt them up on eBay or Amazon.
Rest In Peace John Taffin.

So I was wiring up the last panel on a feed pen at a new place Wednesday evening when I heard rustling in the woods. The feeder had gone off about an hour before so I was expecting some visitors at some point. Dozen or more piglets come running to the pen out of the woods and come in the gate on the opposite side from me. I hadn’t closed it yet and they started munching on corn. I drew my 44mag and waited for the sows. They could tell something was up probably the 18 hog panels I just put up and hesitantly made a u turn. When they paused a couple of them were broadside one behind the other. I fired off a round from 50 yards dropping the first one and the 2nd I assume was hit by the pass through and took off squealing into the woods and stopped but it was too thick to pursue. I had made a trade for the Super Blackhawk and it dawned on me afterwards that’s the first time I’ve ever fired it. That was a lot of fun after a very tiring afternoon.
