My fiancée bought back the first engine he ever rebuilt a couple of weeks ago. He was in high school when he originally rebuilt the engine. We are going to restore it-- not mint but good enough to drive around the farm & street legal in town. Thinking of going with a Daisy Duke's Dixie themed jeep.
It's a 1983 Wrangler. Here it is as it sits today.
Thank you Dale. I will be sure to use the proper terminology in the future! I feel so legit now. So what is the difference between wrangler & cj7?
Mainly, the model designation, but there are differences between the CJ and the YJ (first actual wrangler). The front clip (fenders, hood, grill), the interior, transmission/ t-case and axles are the main differences. The body tub, roll bar, and engine (in the first few years anyway) are the same, though.

I really wasn't trying to be a smart arse. When Chrysler bought the "jeep" from AMC they changed a whole bunch of stuuf when they went from the greatness of the CJ, to their own version the "wrangler" or yj..all for the worse. That's when they went to the square headlights.
It is a very nice rig! Again I wasn't trying to be rude. I just used to know a bunch of jeep guys, and that was a big deal with them. It would be akin to calling an old Harley a "sport bike" if you will.
