I grew up in Port Lavaca so yeah I've seen them a lot. If they look like a flock of geese and sound like pigeons, Sandies. A flock of them used to graze next to the house every year. Long story short, I always had several hundred extra golf balls and didn't mind practicing maybe punching a 7 at some birds.

Interesting. I always hear they taste amazing so I have been dying to try one. I need to try this for sure.

              But without the heart.

Looks good. I normally chicken fry but may have to make some fajitas with my next batch.

[QUOTE=Devin;9457495]Shot my first sandhill crane this last weekend. I've heard mixed reviews on their delicacy, so I was eager to see if I could come away thinking they were a "rib-eye in the sky".

So why didn't you serve this for use at Christmas? Looks amazing. Take Josh with you next time, please!

I don't know what they taste like, but a buddy of mine has one mounted, and it is one of the coolest looking bird mounts I have ever seen! I would love to shoot one out of the air with my longbow!

Crane is good eats for sure, as fajitas and even just cooking them like you would a steak they come out awesome as well.. My preferred method of eating all waterfowl especially ducks is to turn them into fajitas but crane occasionally gets the special steak treatment.
