Looking for opinions on freeze dried emergency food that any of you may have tried, quality of the food and any other comments. Looking to store some at the property.
thanks

I might have 2 months of freeze dried foods. I got mine from My Patriot. My wife and I tried a few and they were okay. Obviously freeze dried foods aren’t going to compare to home cooking because if they did, I wouldn’t be home cooking. 😎
They were better than MREs but there was no open and eat other than some fruits.
A guy I worked with asked me about freeze dried survival foods a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned 4Patriots and said that they weren’t very good but I never got to talk to him on why he thought that. I don’t know if he was reading reviews or had actually eaten some or thought they were too expensive, etc.
So I have my My Patriot supply and I might order some more. With nothing to compare them to, I don’t know if My Patriot is good in comparison or not but if I have to eat them, I’ll be okay with what I have.
Maybe someone on TBH can recommend me a better option…..
We got some in a bucket……does that clear it up for you ? As I remember they were just as you described, not delicious, but that’s not the purpose anyway. The purpose is: you have to eat them because there’s nothing else available. Dried beans and rice will go pretty far and keep you alive…..and gassed up !

I don’t have any experience with the freeze dried food companies but want to start trying some as well. Anybody know if 4patriot has a variety sample pack? As already mentioned, once the stinking stuff hits the fan we will need to eat for the sake of nutrition. I like the bean and rice idea and actually store enough to get by for some time. it sure would be nice to have at least a few different choices.
I have used auguson farms, patriot and emergency essentials but can’t say I have taste tested it yet.
As a test sc few weeks back I did dump a five gallon bucket of white flour I stored in 2011. I used the bucket, Mylar bag oxygen method. I have read white flour is only good for 2 years but it appeared to be good from just a visual, feel test. I did not use it.

If it didn’t have weevils in it it was probably good !
Burt, I've had some of the Mnt House stuff a very long time ago, just to try it out. It wasn't bad at all. Some of it you just add hot water to the bag it comes in. It's a pretty popular, common brand. Can be found at Acadamy and some of the camping box stores.
The mountain house meals are pretty good, i havent tried any other brands. We keep a few in the pantry for just in case. PEAK looks like they have some good flavor options as well.
We bit the bullet and bought a freeze dryer a year or two ago. Expensive, but eventually pays for itself when compared to buying the prepackaged food. We do a lot of eggs (egg powder), veggies, fruits, candies, etc.

No doubt the best route is the route you have taken.
