    I think there's only 24 beds total.
Some of the other group stayed at the A-frame while some of our group stayed at the trailer. Needless to say, all the motel rooms in Camp Wood were full and we got the last room at the one in Barksdale. There for a minute, thought we were going to have to camp out under a picnic table!!!

ive only ever seen 2 tameish rams at thompsons. ive had to work to get both my rams ive killed from his place so far. this year i didnt see hardly any rams at small area right below the look out spot, but everywhere else had a bunch! if you dont is place this time of year try goin during the winter months. i have gone the past 2 january's and had a blast even if it took me all weekend to get a ram. i will gladly keep going back(if daddy lets me). yeah the sleeping conditions might not be the very best and the place might not be up to most peoples standards but it could be a hell of a lot worse! oh and you can def get more than what you pay for there, i got a gold medal corsican that had a tag that normally only produces bronze medal corsicans.

What fishindude? You see the sporting comes into play from the no rest, and dehydration. LOL. No really I agree but to each their own but then again I have never been on a hunt like this. But I agree for newbies, kids, + wives its great.

The best part of Thompson's is the opportunity to meet new people and have a great campfire. It's unfortunate that the only affordable place to do that is at Thompson's- for me and alot of us. Ram hunts could (can and have in the past) been great hunts if it's on a good ranch and in a good environment. TT's ranch is very hard to hunt if you do it that way...it's just too bad that the whole thing isn't higher quality...but then again if it were, we'd be paying alot more than we are.

For all the ram hunt skeptics- I guarantee you that if you had some mature rams in a section or two and went spot and stalk with a bow, it might just change your mind. It might not be colorado elk hunting, but it can be a real challenge.

Ram hunting is only for people who are dumb and blind.
The supreme hunters, like yourselves, shouldn't waste your time!

If you're so opposed to ram hunting, why did you even open a thread that you knew would be about ram hunting?

                  Trolls?

That's one reason I went. The other one was my nephew just got back from the Marines and wanted to go. With the group I went with, I knew I would be the only bow hunter and most of them wouldn't even make the trip up the Mt., which would leave me with a lot of room to roam. And in the past, those goats in the back can get pretty skiddist. Making the hunt more "inviting"!!! But what got my "goat" (no pun intended), was the double booking. I mean, he does this for a living. How could he miss that!!! Then, not seeing anything like I have in the past, pretty much did me in by Sunday morning. I just slept in and drove back to take care of my nephew's ram.
Hopefully for anybody else going in the future, this past weekend was just a fluke. I'm gonna keep my eye on TT's trip.

Tim shot a 4-horn there early in the hunt.

I went up Saturday mid-day after You guys met me at the #2 blind.

I saw two Rambos and a another Corsican. All red tagged or better.

Jmh05 and I were there with the same group in March. I think we had a blast, and I can say from experience, that he is right about the spot and stalk hunting. I've never done that type of hunting before, and let me tell you, it's pretty frustrating to spot them across the draw, sneak over there on virtually vertical rock walls, only to get busted JUST as you get into bow range! Plus, the terrain at TT's place is so grown up with trees, a clear shot is hard to get unless you are sitting in one of the stands. I had a blast and ended up taking a no tag merino that was pretty big, but I cheated and used the rifle. The lodging isn't the best in the world, but it's better than a tent on the rocks, and better than sleeping in the bed of your truck. Can't really expect much for a $100 hunt, but I feel like I got a lot more than $100 worth of hunting.

Well squiggy That is really horrible that you had a bad time there, and you have every right to be mad about the double booking. If I were in your shoes I would feel the same way. Witht that many people all over the place it couldn't have been very good hunting. I will deffinately be giving a full report when I get back from there in july. Like I said before I have had a great time both times that I have been so far and fully intend on having a great time again this year. I think the reason we have such a good time is that most if not all of the people that go with us are from this site or hang out with guys/girls on this site, not to mention our friend who sets it all up puts in alot of work to make sure everybody gets a chance to hunt where they would like to hunt on the ranch and gets a chance at the animal they are looking for.
