Hagerman Segment B 2022

I scouted Hagerman this past Saturday. I didn't recognize the speed limit was 20. Good thing I was too busy staring into the woods and looking at Onx.

I'm in for Segment B. Fist time drawing there and super pumped! I too have done a good amount of online scouting with Google and OnX. Went out twice already; once for a drive around and check access points, then another time with a mountain bike to scout a little better. Found a few spots, and one that I REALLY like. Nobody better take it!

Going back out briefly this Sunday to check on a couple of spots. I'll try to go back once it starts cooling off and scout some more. Also have a Grapevine permit, so I'm trying to balance those. I live an hour+ away from both of them. Luckily I had Grapevine last year and already know some spots.

Not a fan of having to check in each day no earlier than 5:00. By the time we get through all of that, drive to our parking spot, load up and hike in to our spot, it'll be getting close to shooting time!

Got a permit for seg B on the 2nd draw.
I may have a kid conflict for a chunk of it (thought that weekend was free after 1st results .... never expected a 2nd draw with only 1 or 2 points ). Even if it is just a Friday morning / Sunday evening I will be looking forward to whatever time I can get in. Have a few spots marked from prior pig hunts , but gotta get up there to check on them soon.

I am pretty sure you get to hunt all day Sunday as well.

Wouldn't hurt to try and switch weekends with the mom...if she's easy to deal with. Maybe pay for a nice dinner out that weekend to grease her a little.

Since I live a good ways away, I was thinking of camping (or sleeping in the truck). Does anyone know of a good spot near the headquarters that has showers? I need to get a small RV!

Well, I did the pig hunt and my group stayed at the Eisenhower State Park. It is about a half hour drive though. I thought about doing an air bnb, but all the ones I was finding were too expensive. Anyone want to split an airbnb?

my wife and boys are making the trip up there with me and we are looking at a cabin around highport...do you guys know if they ride golf carts around the marina? i want to take ours and let them ride around and fish while i am hunting...

It's a thought! Find any close to the headquarters? My thinking is to get a close to there as possible so I don't have as far to go in the morning for check-in.

Good point. I will see what I can find out when I get back home in about an hour.

Negotiations are in progress, i think I will be good to go Friday and either all day Sat or Sun. Thing is I actually want to be with my kid at her event...
