3 wins so far! Many more still to go and a few pending 2nd draws. All won on 2 points. I cant believe it! What a dang good Friday!

1. Laguna Atascosa
2. Trinity River NWR - Hirsch
3. Trinity River NWR- McGuire

I can only speak to trinity- hirsch, save your money and time and hunt the other hunt besides trinity river. I drew it last year for rifle and it flat out sucked. Hunted it i think 5 out of the 7 total days and saw a total of 2 squirrels, 1 fox and about 15-20 stray feral dogs. Complete waste of money and points. I was very mad. From others who've hunted it as well, it sucked for them too. I will say people who've hunted the other units claim there are tons of hogs but I never saw any in the Hirsch.

Hope this helps in your permit decision making. Don't want to sound like a complete Dudley downer but just speaking from my experience what I know to be true.

Thanks I appreciate the intel, this will certainly help which weekends I chose to hunt since I have another private hunt property lined up in the same month. I was about to do some research on this place and havent heard or read much about it. Anyone else care to chime in on the Trinity NWR?

Should be a thread from last year from hirsch unit. Nobody had anything good to say. Lol

Between my son, daughter and myself we had 7 hunts that we had a crack at today. 0/7 with all pending second draw.

Any previous hunters with some tips?

I hunted it last year. Saw 23 deer and 10 hogs while crunching around looking for a spot the first day, then nada. Depending on your dates, the water oaks drop first. There is food and water everywhere and wide open woods above the lakes.

My advice: bring a bicycle and ride down tk the bottom side

My son got drawn for gun either sex for Justin Hurst.

Never done this before--Going to need some advice!!

800 people get drawn for Laguna Archery out of something like 1500 applicants. It's basically the easiest hunt in the entire state to draw so on average you should draw every 2 years. If you can't go just don't apply to save your points. Odds of drawing w 2 points are extremely high.

I finally drew this, has like 5 points lol.

Won Laguna Atascosa on 2 points! Third time going here! My favorite place to hunt!
