Texas Draw Hunts

I Drew Private Lands- Antlerless/Spike (Gun) on Travis County Ranch in December. I had 4 Loyalty Points to draw this one. These cost $10.00 per applicant to enter, so maybe not as many people apply. I already accepted and they have sent me my Permit. These cost Zero Dollars to hunt so I consider this a Win-Win! My lucky streak continues! Come on Sept !5 and Nov 1 for the other Drawings!

Here is the Scoop: I will be hunting on the 4,084 Acre Barton Creek Habitat Preserve located near the City of Bee Cave, Tx in Travis County. Total of 6 hunters on the property during my hunt, a Compartment with Blind and a Feeder will be provided. I can Primitive Camp on Property.Two Does or one Doe and one Spike and unlimited Feral Hogs. Should be an interesting hunt!

Finally drew the H, segment B. Immediately went and purchased my permit. Just now realized that I have to be in Wisconsin for work until Friday afternoon. Going to call the refuge office on Tuesday and see what my options are. Maybe they will let me swap segments with a willing person, or maybe they will let me attend orientation and sign in remotely and then just hunt hard on Saturday and Sunday.

Drew big lake bottom wma and James daughtrey wma on e- postcard. Anyone out there with experience at James daughtrey? Any advice is greatly appreciated

Bring a feeder to the Daughtrey during orientation. There will be deer there by the next weekend!

I drew Aransas NWR for October and Lanwr for November. Will probably skip the Aransas hunt.

Is the Laguna deer hunt worth the drive down? I assume you can still shoot nelgai and pigs. But just curious if there are any big deer??

Absolutely is man! If your a true hunter, that place will put you to the test and make you earn it! Plenty of good whitetails to chase. My best 8 came from there a few years back and I believe a 160s was killed there last year

But you could shoot a trophy tick for sure down there. Probably not worth it if you have other hard hunting opportunities.

My son drew Colorado Bend SP, gun, either sex December 27-29. Had 2 points. This will be our first public lands hunt. Any advice on places to stay other than camping?

My luck or bad luck continues. I put in for 31 hunts and 0 for 8 so far. Congrats to those that were drawn I'll be there for most of the standbys maroon f 250.
