The coyotes have to control the deer population because we sure aren't. Lol.

I do wonder what the logic is behind protecting them is.

You already stated the reason. The yotes are out there doing what they are supposed to do, eating deer (and other things) and keeping the deer density where it needs to be. Hunters, and especially public hunters, aren't near as efficient at killing enough deer.

I mean yeah I understand that or I wouldn't have said it. But what's the big deal if a few are killed each draw hunt? It's not like the few that would be killed would really make a difference or hurt the population. I just don't understand protecting them.

They are limited by nature. No/fewer rats and rabbits means no/fewer pups. Any deer they kill are the weakest in the herd. I wish they could make more than a dent in the too-numerous shoat population.

They don’t mind us killing turkey, hogs, and deer. I don’t even put in the draw for turkeys or hogs. I’d put in for a predator hunt for sure.

There is a petition to open a rifle season in grayson, collin and other counties that are archery only. If it happens the low deer density will diminish to near non existent … big money lazy guys that dont want to put the effort into archery hunting are proposing it.
