Anyone else going out tomorrow? Holler if you see a tall, skinny dude wandering around with recurve in hand, wearing sharpie camo pants, and a stupid *** boonie hat wrapped in orange flagging.
Someone on here suggested running after the hogs when you bump them... found out this morning that hogs have better endurance than me. Chased 10-15 around in the mud and brush with nothing to show for it but a lack of oxygen.
I did manage to stay in the 20-40 yard range for quite a while, but the only open shot was when they turned on the burners for another territory. I can't shoot 50 yards with my recurve on a foam target, let alone a running hog, so I didn't even try.
Two things:
First, Has anyone heard wether the guy ever found his dog (as mention a few posts back)
Second, anyone heading out tomorrow that would like to escort a newb. I have a boat. Thought I heard some while duck hunting down toward the river on Thanksgiving. Might have been cormorants..sound like it was coming off the water, but sure sounded like pigs. Sound travels wierd out on that water.

I’ll be out tomorrow but I am a newb myself so I wouldn’t be much help. Good luck!
So if you gonna hunt granger or public land in general dont be a lazy ********. Take your carcass and guts back into the woods.... the parking lot is not the place to dump all your bull****... at least 3 carcasses in this pile...... people are trash these days.
Went to sore finger yesterday and it’s like jumping into a 7/11 Big Gulp Slushy. Watched a nubbin buck scurry out from a big lay down and splash through the woods. Another buck came to within 30 yds and to its surprise was two harmless lil rascals up in tree watching it like a viral video on YouTube. Watched a couple bucks clash their heads in the marsh, via an android screen.
Tons of action in that unit, overall it was a great place to walk into on a calm Saturday afternoon. Definitely not an area to walk and stalk with a compound bow, crossbow would be recommended for this area.
NO PIGS!! No Pigs here!! Stay out of hunting for pigs here.
HUMANOID: Everyone knows, there are no pigs at Granger! Not at Sore Finger, not anywhere.
You can't find them in the grass; and you can't find them in the sticks;
You can't find them at Primitive Camp; you can't find them at gate 6!
You can't find find them at 'The Spot'; and you can't find them at Comanche ridge;
You can't find them at 'The Steps; you can't find them under Railroad Bridge!
You can't find them at Small Boat Launch; and you'll never see one cross a road;
You can't find them in the mud; you can't find them at Pe-can Grove!
You can't even see them from way, way, up on the dam; those porkers are really, really, on the lam!
So, no no, don't waste your time, or put your toes in danger; everyone knows: . . . . there are no pigs at Granger!
