I have an extra yak. Up until a few months ago I had 4. I've trimmed my plastic fleet down to 3 good boats now. If you want to paddle, I'll bring boats.
Oh yeah name is Sean by the way. And to let you know I will be using a crossbow for the hunt. Been shooting wheel bow for 15+ years now and recently decided to try a xbow, just for pigs though.
New to this forum, new to this area, hunting anyway. I've tried to PM but guess still too new. I've got a lot of useful info here and see a lot of people looking to get groups together. Just moved here to Pflugerville after retiring from the Navy 3 years ago, and looking to spend more time getting to know hunting here and introducing it to my kids. I have been shooting some dove in a friends small plot of land but looking to get some hogs and deer and even turkey in the freezer. Have a Bear- lights out and 6 brand new arrows, 2x 30.06, and 2x 12gauge. Ready. Bought public land permit and was hoping to get some info/ assist with Granger. Also, I'm in the draw at Somerville and Perdenales for deer and hog throughout the season. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Read up on this thread and you'll find a TON of good info to get you started. Also, most of us Granger die hards will be hitting the woods a lot starting pretty soon, and you're more than welcome to come along with us sometime.
It's good to see that more and more people are excepting xbows now. When I first got into archery they were viewed as an easy way for people to get into archery without putting in the effort, Hell it wasn't even viewed as archery! But just recently I realized why should I let the lazy people have all the fun, and man are they FUN! Oh and I was joking about the"lazy" part.

I know. It takes cajones to admit you shoot an xbow around this crowd. Soooo, spray them cajones with some paramethrin and let's get on with the pig killing.
Thanks Sneaky,
So, maybe I'm missing something or misread something. I see a post on here about draw hunts for deer and I look on the public land booklet and see the only list deer as draw hunts. So, does that mean you can't just walk on and hunt bow/ or rifle season appropriately. What about turkey, I guess it's not on the public land page specifically-- so no hunting?? So last question is there a spot to go to and get with a group of ya'll or is it something that is planned? or something else? I'm digging the info I read on the best avenue for hunting hog is from a boat, seems safe and cover lots of territory.

Chad,
First, welcome. Now, deer hunting Granger is only a pipe dream for most all of us this year. Deer hunting there is draw only with about 60 permits available and probably around 500 applicants. There's no guns allowed there except shot guns with #4 shot or smaller. As far as the draw hunts, most of the drawing deadlines were Sept. 29. There are a few draw hunt drawings still open yet I believe. Check the TPWD draw hunt page.
Second, a couple of us are going to try and stick a pig sunday afternoon. It would be great if you could make it. The old saying, the more the merrier is very true when hunting the bush at Granger.
