its been several years since I've hunted the property. this will be the archery hunt. I plan on taking some corn, a popup, 8' tripod and some trimming tools to make a natural brush blind if needed. ive hunted First Point before and know how spooky those deer are. im expecting the deer at the wma to possibly be the same since there have been several hunts there already this year. any tips on unit preference and blind/stand setups?

I have pretty much the same plans except the brush blind but could build one if needed.
It's been a long time since I've been there and while these deer are wild and naturally spooky, I don't think they can be compared to any of the popular bow hunting day leases. At the Daughtrey they have several hunts during the year but with a very limited number of people spread out on a large piece of dirt. The day leases run more people per acre and most run 7 days a week from the start of season.
We have the small advantage of a 2 week gap since the last hunt which ended on the 12/17....although the son of OleTomTalker did remove a quality target for us....Congrats again to Jr. for being a trooper while sick. Something he's not soon to forget.
I'll also be taking a cellular TC although I'm not sure if I'll have service, it still saves pictures to a card.

We were there the same Ole Tom Talker and we saw the same thing, mature deer stayed atleast 200 yards from permanent blinds. We set my cousins son up in a brushed in PPP up on a well used rub line and he shot a 41/2 year old 10 point in a couple hours at 42 yards. Also, find yourself a well used trail, especially in a low spot and try that. Try to stay away from pigs if possible because they will run the deer off the corn. These deer know what corn is but spread it thin don't put it piles.

He forgot to mention their brush job on the popup looked more real than an actual bush though!
Mark should've been a gardener or florist or something...

Been shooting my bow and packing gear today. Ready for Tuesday.
For those who have been recently, how's the ATT signal in the hunting compartments? I know that area is thin on signal strength but want to take along my Covert.
I'm taking my horns Mason but fear that's almost a desperate situation for a bow hunter. Could be interesting just to see what's in the area though.

Hey Mason, going back to read your Daughtrey thread before the BAMA game starts. It should be required reading for anyone hunting there.
Thanks for the compliment sir!
Bama game will be on at the casa as I'll be watching it with a bunch of Bama alumni
