I have not been sucessful with the new system compared to the old but i understand it. TPW needed to generate more funds and this has accomplished that. 2nd draw gets them paid instead of no shows with 0 stand bys waiting to pay. Im sure my luck will change but we'll survive. We just need learn the best way to play the public hunting game we have now.

X3, used to draw "something" almost every year, have not drawn in 4 yrs... since the new system came out in 2013.

MAYBE....TPWD make a SENIOR category!!!! You have to be 50 or over!!!!!
In the same boat, like your way of thinking.

Colorado does this for Federal land we should do it for state land....imo

I agree, in new mexico 84% of tags go to residents, only 6% of tags go to us DIY guys from out of state (and texas has a helluva lot less tags), if new mexico is gonna do us that way we should do it back.

I'd have to look at preference points but I think I'm averaging about once every 3.5 yrs lol didn't get draw this year but did win a private land hunt last uear. Hopefully I can close that average and get drawn for something next year. I didn't get a doe tag in my close national Forest this year either. All part of the game...Can't complain too much. Of course I'd like to go sonewhere every year but it could be worse.

1st time I entered in 2012, got drawn for GDM at Mason Mountain. Nothing since this year, but this year (2016) was a bonanza. Got drawn 2 WMA hunts, 2 NWR hunts, and 1 private lands hunt. Went on 4 of the 5 hunts. I don't mind making a small donation each year. Online makes it easier to enter and keep track of in my opinion. I love hunting at Mason Mountain WMA, staff is nice and very accommodating.
