Was up in Colorado in September chasing elk so i hadn’t had time to get to the buttes to set game cameras until this weekend.

Yes, Dakota1 and I are headed up there tomorrow to set game cameras in our hunting spots and to put corn down. We will hunt the evening and Sunday morning. Then we will head back every other weekend to check game cameras and put down corn.

Of course I’m not gonna ask where you and your buddy hunt, I know how this public stuff works lol. But do y’all focus in on archery only areas, or hunt the shotgun permitted areas too? I have my theory on that topic, just curious how other people see it.

Hello everyone! Fairly new to this forum, and would like to commend everyone. Public hunting isn’t easy, and very few people even attempt it, especially the archery hunters. With that being said, I’d like to ask a question.... is thoughtfulness and being considerate a thing of the past? I’ve been scouting and running cameras since the beginning of August, trying to increase my chances of successs this fall. Only to find a new blind or climbing stand ( one of which looks to be one pictured in this forum about a month back) every time I head to the woods. Yes, I know it’s public land. Yes, I know everyone has their right to it, just as much as I do. But I personally feel like there’s PLENTY of room for everyone to hunt, and not intrude on someone else. It doesn’t matter if we’re friends or strangers, and you have a 180” deer or doe you’re chasing. I’m gonna go out of my way to find access to a spot that will not affect your hunt in a negative way. I have met several real nice gentlemen at Butte, and exchanged phone numbers with them. We keep each other posted on deer movement, and where we suggest everyone hunt, so I know it’s possible. Butte is a great place to hunt, and everyone should definitely enjoy the resources provided by it... just don’t be “that guy”. Happy hunting!

This climber was located in unit 9, to the northwest of the walking trail going in. It was located in what appeared to be an old creek/river bed. Again, I apologize if this is not your climber I’m referring to. Just looked a lot like the area where it happened.

No apology needed. I just wanted to make sure it was not me that messed you up. I enjoy hunting and while I know that it is public land I agree with you that courtesy should still exist. We need to help each other not tear each other down. I hope you have a good season and if you need something feel free to let me know or ask me. God bless and good luck.

I agree with you "being a good sportsman is thing of past it seems". I too hunt public lands with good success, and I share my finding with those who seems to not get it going. GOD created this lands for us all to enjoy. Bet that person who put his groundblind near/in the area your camera (he saw your camera and thought this must be good area since camera here). I hang my cameras high up, as most who scout aren't looking up as they scout. He was probably tired of his scouting and took easy way out...by piggyback on your efforts. What can we do as real good sportsman

GOD created this lands for us all to enjoy. Bet that person who put his groundblind near/in the area your camera (he saw your camera and thought this must be good area since camera here). I hang my cameras high up, as most who scout aren't looking up as they scout. He was probably tired of his scouting and took easy way out...by piggyback on your efforts. Was just down there last weekend on PINS for are yearly trip. Wish I could make it down there every 3 weeks
