thanks man, I thought I was going nuts. guess its seriously flooded if they are closing it all year.
I agree. The only time I have seen hunts cancelled there were for flooding that happened shortly before or during a scheduled hunt. I know it's still having flooding issues now, but I wonder if they will go ahead and add some hunts if the water goes back down before fall? Anybody talked to the Wildlife Managers there yet? I enter that unit into my drawing choices every year and have been lucky enough to hunt it several times. Fingers crossed for another chance to enter!

One of the pictures they showed of a road at Richland tells a story. If they all look like that, I can understand why they cancelled the hunts.
So with this new bill, it seems like TPWD is going to be flush real soon.
I've drawn a doe permit every year I've applied, until last year. Several people applied for these permits who didn't have any real intentions of hunting. But it was free, so they applied.
Now even less does were taken, which makes for even harder hunting, and even more grazing pressure. Sure it will all work out, but its frustrating that these tags are going to waste.

I emailed TPW asking and they said so many fawns died from flooding they are going to bypass any add'l pressure on the deer this year.

Ooooo, Hate to hear that. We have hunted it several times. It is an awesome place. In the years past, I have also been lucky enough to have 2 different leases that backed up to it. Love those Trinity River bucks. Drop tines and palmanated racks are very common.
