    TPWD draw hunt info needed

I have never put in for any of these hunts. We are expecting our first baby in september so I figured I could attempt some cheaper hunting but still want good hunts. Anything yall can recommend? Any certain areas or anything? I am mainly interested in antelope, trophy whitetail and exotics. I seriously doubt I will get drawn for anything on the first year but ya never know!! Also, when are we able to start applying?

I put my applications in in July last year.

You can start applying as soon as the drawings are opened up. It is all an online system now through the TPWD website. You can pull up previous years results as far as numbers of people applying vs. how many get drawn and hunter success rates.

It's easier to put in with online everything but I've been picked every year for the past eight years for multiple hunts until last year. Go figure. It is definitely going to generate a lot more revenue.

good luck. I have 6-10 points in all the adult hunts and have never been drawn. but every year it's like christmas morning when the deadline arrives. Maybe this year will be my year.

Trophy...I think there is only one place you can put in for an antelope hunt, that is the bad news...the good news is I think they always have 100% sucess rate.

Exotics - there are several places but of course most of the good one have LOTS of people putting in for them, but there are a few diamonds in the rough if your willing to go were most people won't (i.e. primative camping, rough country, etc.).

Trophy whitetails - there are lots of places that hold very nice whitetails in all parts of the state, so it more a question of where you want to hunt. I personally know that the panhandle spots, the south texas spots and the coastal areas hold VERY NICE whitetails. Define "very nice" 140+...not under every bush, but they are there!

When they open the drawings in July just do your research (both on and off line) and hope the drawing gods smile on you! :-)

Oh I apply for it every year, why not..

If you have your heart set on speed goat though you may want to buy some PP for a western state and get it in a couple years
