Thanks it was! Got a bunch of memories! Glassing those nilgai from a distance was very cool. Got to watch a couple acres of tailing reds and drum in one of the lakes too. Watched thousands of ducks and saw more quail than I could count. Killing the critters was good but just a small part of it!

Also earlier today I put a couple small test pieces of the bull in the crockpot. Just sprayed the liner with a little pam and a little seasoning. Just tried it and it was fantastic! Cant wait to get home and get it processed.

Absolutely the best public hunt I’ve been on in a long time! The amount of waterfowl on the property is insane, as was the abundance of Whitetail and Nilgai. Got to do my favorite type of hunt; traditional muzzleloader, after a really unique animal and met some really good folks along the way.

      Helluva weekend!

I've REALLY enjoyed following along! Seems like a ton of success for you guys! I'm really hoping to pull this tag some day!

Sounds like a successful hunt had by many! Really looking forward to getting back down there. Had a successful rifle hunt at the main unit last year, but never had a chance to hunt to BG unit.

Sharing a few more pics and some final thoughts. I’ll echo what Doug and Jake stated in that this was an unbelievably exciting hunt that stands atop my list of most enjoyable Texas public hunts. Yes, I threw a lot of effort towards my success but it’s not required to be successful here. You can kill them right off the road too (I see you over there nodding Doug)! Wildlife is abundant! It kept me entertained all hunt. Lastly, I wasn’t afforded the opportunity to meet huntorfish, but I got to meet some great TBH guys that re-affirmed TBH is comprised of some of the best folks around.

The bull in the pic below is the one I shot. He was just barely out of range there. I put a tape to him last night and he's 8 3/4" It wont let me add anymore pics, even in a separate post, saying I've exceeded my max post size.

Congrats to all the hunters who had success on this thread, I really enjoyed following along. Hopefully I can contribute and keep this thread running. My group and I will be down there this week for the archery hunt.

I will echo the group. One of the better hunts I have been on and a cool property. Very different then the other units such as Laguna and Teniente that I have hunted. Beyond the rate of success I think what made it most enjoyable was the number of great TBH folks that were there. Everyone offered to help each other out.

What do you feel differs the BG unit from the Laguna?

Well for one there is some actual elevation change and Bahia has ridges. The brush, at least where I was hunting was a little different too. Lots more yucca and I feel like less mesquite. I don’t know, I get excited to see new places and felt this one was just different in a good way. I have shot nilgai off all three of those units now so it’s not just because I was lucky enough to harvest something at Bahia.
