Semi Live from S Texas NWR's 12/26/24-1/5/25 (La Sal Del Rey and Teniente)

Gonna be down in S Texas for the next week and a half or so and have a couple of NWR hunts and will mix in some private land hunting down here between the two of them. We were fortunate on the refuge draws this year and my older son has LRGV NWR-La Sal Del Rey hunt starting tomorrow through the 29th and I drew LRGV NWR-Teniente Archery 1/2-5.

We drove down today and did a little scouting this afternoon and got set up at a spot some TBH'ers have had some great success at over the past couple of years so hopefully that luck continues for us. We saw a couple of groups of nilgai and a group of does walking around after we got set up today.

Will try and keep this as live as possible and hopefully have some LPDs to share along the way.

Man that’s a great set of places to hunt. Hope y’all brought plenty big empty coolers. La Sal Del Rey is a fun place to hunt, will definitely have a tin of shot opportunities! I saw a ton of nilgai and nice bucks there! Best of luck to y’all

Shot fired on a cow. She went down hard and then stumbled to get up and took off. Pretty sure I could hear her moaning in the brush but going to give it some time.

Not a ton of action for us this evening. Handful of does strolled through and that was it.

kid east of us shot a cow and I heard a bull was shot late on the SW side but they hadn’t started looking for it yet.

Shot fired on another cow. She didn’t react like she was hit real hard but my son said the shot felt good. Gonna give her a bit and go look.
