Dad's going to focus on whitetail being the rut will be on. Think I'll probably hunt with him the 1st couple of days. Hopefully he can slap something.

We'll be headed out to where my friend and I took 2 bulls and a cow 2 years ago.

I thought the rut was around mid December down there? I saw two bucks together last weekend, I rattled and they bolted. Hope you find some more cooperative deer.

That’s a nope from me. My .223 shoots pigs and predators. Nilgai get my .270 for neck shots or .300 win mag for shoulder/lung shots.

Why? Unless you are doing head or neck shots why would you only use a .223? And for anyone that says "shot placement, shot placement, shot placement" why wouldn't you just carry out a well placed shot with a higher caliber round...

I don't disagree, but it seems to have done the trick a couple times. Makes me wonder...
