For any new people, if you plan on hunting inside main unit, have your license, signed map, permit, and hunter safety info readily accessible. Generally the boys in green are at the gate on 1st morning validating each person.

It just helps to speed up the line for the other 100 people behind you. Then buckle your seat belt and enjoy the 25mph speed limit for the next 30 minutes.

Don't forget about the mile of speed bumps 100yds apart, that's why you gotta buckle up.

Dont even have old corn kernels in the bed of your truck... People have caught tickets for that in the past and definitely dont pick up any shed antlers or other "artifacts"...

I will be there November 8-12th. staying at Adolph Thomae. Reminder for anyone staying at Thomae. The gates close at 10 pm and you can not get your vehicle back in the gate. You can leave but can't get back in.

What happens if you're late? Would anyone care if you left your truck on the side of the road and hiked back to camp?

I've heard of that happening before, and I don't think it'd be a problem. Makes for a little pucker factor making an ice run in the evening after a hunt. lol

I have had to hike back in before without a problem but you have to leave your vehicle unattended on the main road. As justletmein mentioned it can be an issue for an ice run. I had that exact scenario two years ago and I had to leave late to get ice for a young bull I shot. This year I plan on taking in a huge quantity of ice even if i may not need it.

I'm in on the January hunt and will be rolling solo from SA. With all the rain this year, lets hope we get a freeze by then. I'm sure the lizards are happy though.

You earlier hunts, save some critters for those of us riding the back of the bus
