Originally posted by Walkin STX Hank View PostHey Ed I would have told him the shot worked 8 months ago but not now. Doctors forget about being human. The VA is sending me to Dallas now for a specialist. So once a year I get paid travle pay to drive to Dallas to see my doctor.
I built a new stand that I want to get out in area 11 I just have not had the energy or time to do it.
After all of the cr** that happened last year I gave up guiding and I am sticking with unguided.
I was toying with the idea of applying for a guide job, but after thinking about it for awhile I decided not to. Even if I had been selected I'd have probably opted out before season rolled around. Too independent. Like doing things on my schedule, my way.

Yea they have some pills out but I doubt if the VA will ever pay for them. I will be on the shots the rest of my life.
Last year there was a situation where they wanted to hold me responsible for what happened and I was at home did not even hunt that night. But since I was the chief guide I was responsible, My answer was why din't someone call me and ask before making a the decision. The assistant guide called the SC and talked to a certain individual and in my opinion they all made the wrong decision. Bottom line one of our fellow TBH'rs lost 2 deer and was not allowed to hunt on fort hood anymore, and I recieved a warning that if happend again I would be suspended. That was the night I decided no more guiding on Fort Hood for this boy. And they still call me for area 45/46.

Hopefully, the VA will pick up on it sometime. Be really nice if the Hood pharmacy would add it to their formulary!
I know the VA has eased up some on how they rate some disabilities. I was originally rated at 100% in 83 and they downgraded me to 30 in 88/89 or somesuch. The guy across the street just applied two years ago with the same stuff (soft tissue damage from agent orange exposure) and was rated 100. So think I could probably re-apply, but really not interested in going through all the paper work. If I needed the money it would probably be worth it to get the retirement off set removed, I think the threshold is either 60 or 80 but not sure. Life is good as is. No sense stirring things up if I don't need to.

Can't wait to get back. Ed will have to get with ya and share some ideas. Going to Chase pigs this weekend but not on good if I get the honey doo list worked down.
I know I am going to catch heat for this but this is IMHO. Part of the problem is that there are roads that allow people onto Fort Hood and those people can do anything in the ranges thay want to and leave post and no-one ever knows they were here. I believe those access points should be closed. I know some of us use these access points to come on post. But, by closing these roads, it might would stop some of the malicious activity. Some of the people coming on post and poaching, stealing & whatever else goes on is done by people that do not have id cards and are not associated with the gov at all. They see these access points as free range to thousands of acres to hunt and mischief and noone will ever know they were here. IMHO
