As I understand it they have signed all the boundries but have been having a bad time with tresspassers, so if we are talking about the same place (which it sounds like) get permission first to enter, especially with rifle season opening. From what I know ALL the guys on that little place are rifle hunting this year and the have blinds that look straight down those roads. I'm not trying to lecture, just giving ya some good info cause I know those guys are really ****** right now as the L&P Police had been telling people for some dumb reason that that was public land and I assure you it is NOT. I got tired of all the issues with that lease and left after one year because of it.

Rut has definitely started around our area guys. Ive been hunting Lake Ivie and watched several bucks with their noses to the dirt tracking the does and chasing hard around the feeders. Their not intested in the corn at all.
Ive gotten the same reports for around the Grape Creek area not far from the state park and Twin Buttes. Start using the estrus scents and rattling during the afternoon lulls.
Every time ive hung some estrus scent wicks Ive had bucks come lookin within an hour, add some fawn bleats in there just after ya hang them for good measure. This has worked for me 3 times this week already

I had a 12 point on my camera last year from that place and several 10 and 8 points. A ggod place to start with would be directly across the back meadow behind Ryans lease in that tree line along the fence. There is agricultural fields on the other side and they head right off the back corner of the lease and over that way.

area 7
I found this site while browsing for info. I hunted area 7 the entire archery season and the week of Thanksgiving. Its real convenient for me as I live closer to the gate than I do from the gate to where I was hunting! This was my first time to bowhunt in over 20 years and it was great to be back in the field with a bow in my hands. I think that San Angelo is becoming a hotspot because it is cheap and there are lots of deer. I spoke with several people at the gate that came from the Dallas area. Although I did not have success this year, it was not for a lack of game in the area I was hunting. Lots of bucks. I did not see any does until Thanksgiving week. One huge 10 point showed up last Sunday and Monday and I almost got trampled by 4 big hogs on Tuesday morning. All in all a great learning experience this year. I will definitely hunt from either a treestand next year or an enclosed ground blind. The brush blind left too much room for error and the deer in 7 were extremely skittish.
Thanks for the thread on SASP. How is it at Twin Buttes? Lots of people?

yup. I had went to a different area one morning and after no movement by 8am I decided to go back to my main hunting area. I spooked a doe that ran to my left but I saw something in front of me I didn't recognize. I thought it was a lonhorn because of the color--dark red like a hereford, but then 4 of them ran onto the trail I was walking and started running right for me. I dropped my chair and nocked an arrow and they turned an ran towards the river. Afterwards I spoke to the ranch foreman for the ranch behind area 7 at the gate and he said they were on his place too.
