Tuthdoc, I was going to wait until you had a chance to try your camcorder out.

We put out nine cameras. We got a buck with some trash on his bases. Mike was unable to get back in the pasture on Sunday morning due to the rain Saturday night. We wanted to switch cards and set our delays longer on our homebrews due to limited memory. The rain has been unreal this year. I hope they want to eat corn in October.

Oh, they'll eat corn. It's candy.

This next month we should really see some interesting pics.

Here's MLD about the third weekend in June.

So, you can see we should see A LOT of growth over the next month.

On the camera, I guess it'll be a waiting game and who weakens first. LOL

He ended up being the biggest deer ever taken off the Junco. He was a "protein head". Grew from a 162 slick 12 to a 226 with 4 drops.

Here's some pics. First are of him the year before.

He was shot pretty early in October, so not much as far as hard horn. I had him about 50 yards in front of me the evening before he was shot. An unbelievable deer.

Here he is on the table.

This only on the 3rd weekend stuff is killing me. I want to go scout so bad. I'm a junkie, going through withdrawals. Can't wait for opening weekend of dove season.

I know what you mean, Jamesl. A month between pics is HARD, especially if you have a camera that's not working for some reason. You wait a month and when you get there....disappointment.

Are you corning those roads we talked about? Have you watched them to see what's coming in? You guys should have some good up and comers this year.

If I was invited to go along with you I would have to turn you down because I would passout looking at all those HUGH deer not able to kill one!LOL
I would be tempted to take out a 16,000 dollar loan to kill one and my wife would KILL me!LOL

It is truly unbelievable that a deer can grow 64 more inches from sheds to velvet in less than 6 months!
Awsome exsperiance you had there and probably one in a life time!

We have our feeders running and 5 protein pens out. We will start corning the roads this next month and start watching. We have been so busy getting camp/cooler/cleaning area ready in a very limited amount of time. Hopefully we can start concentrating more on scouting, than the work in camp.

I would love to spend my 4 days off "relocating" coons and scouting.

Yeah, it's great. I've been pretty dang close to some very nice deer. I've watched and videoed this deer since he was a 2 1/2 year old. he'll be killed this year unless he backslides or breaks. I'm hoping he breaks up early and goes another year and maybe I can kill him. I crawled to within probably 25 yards of him in these pics. Could have killed him a bunch of times on this morning. Last year was the first year he lacked his "splitters". The year before he had about an 8 inch split on one side and about 3 or 4 inch "y" on the other.

tuthdoc, seems that he needs another year, honestly. I would hope he had some of those genes of that big drop buck you have pics on this thread. Seems like one more year won't hurt. of course I don't know what he looks like this year nor am I holding a bow in hand with my heart beating hard...

It is only in my dreams that I'd be able to kill him. I have video of him every year. Like I said, he'd have to break and then next year get passed by the 5 top tier hunters. 2 would let him go. He'd never make it past the other three.

He'll be 6 1/2 this year. They were saying he was 6 1/2 last year, but he's a protein deer and you can't go by the body. I'm going by watching him every year and his face. He won't make it past October unless he breaks.
