Are there a sunflower that will reseed itself

I’m guessing if you didn’t harvest sunflowers and just mowed over them or left them. They would reseed there self. Something almost like a wild sunflower.

Yes, native Texas sunflowers will re-seed if you disc every year.
You can get them from Turner seed in Breckenridge, TX.
It's best to plant them in the early Winter (Nov. 15-Jan-15)

Maximilian sunflowers are perennials and will come back for several years.

Yessir. The cold strat is important for common sunflowers.

This is the native cheap option. Disking or some other disturbance every year or every other year will keep established.
Maximillian sunflowers are another native that bloom later so would keep the dove around but are much more expensive and harder to establish.

I don’t know why more people don’t plant native sunflowers. Much cheaper and easier than all of the other options for dove and quail.

Three years ago, We had our place for about 15 years. We have an eight acre field that I have planted off and on over the years , although I have never planted sunflowers. Three years ago I disked the field to prep it for planting but before I could get anything planted, sunflowers started popping up all over the field. Apparently someone before me had planted sunflowers and the seeds stayed dormant all those years.
