Quail as an indicator

    The only problem with that is as much rain as we have had this year is hard on the Quail but great on the deer.
    It may well be some sort of indicator but Quail population can get out of wack by very little change in weather, cover almost anything.

      Well I saw prolly 20-25 coveys 3 weeks ago out riding around the lease. So that's great news! Bring it on!!

            Always been told if you have high quail numbers you'll have better than average horns...

                I live on the edge of a small town (literally... my alley is the city limit with nothing but pasture behind it). I love my pet quail. Bobs and blues. Busted a family yesterday driving down the alley. Parents with about a dozen chicks just starting to fly.

                  I agree with nature's cycles. We have our good and not so good years and they are usually this way because of what the animal needs to survive.
