We are planting this weekend. Its the normal time for us usually the weekend before or opening weekend has always worked well for us. All I will have to do after Sunday is pray for some good rain. Haven't hadn't any decent rain since June at the ranch

It's starting to dry out a little up here but we've had a great summer overall. Broadcasted wheat in the deer plot and another 6 acre patch this weekend. I'll rebroadcast on the plot if it gets picked over by the turkeys.

This is the bigger patch looking back towards the deer plot.

Seeds hit the dirt in Polk County on Saturday. It's dry fellas. We might have been better off waiting another week or so like we've done in the past but we had the equipment we had the seeds and we have the manpower .....you know how it goes.

Not wasting my $$$ until the ground gets some moisture

Disced a few weekends back and it was dry as deep as the disc was cutting

I may wait until late October. No moisture yet and I am afraid that if I planted it would come up and die from no rain or from army worms. I really don't want to have to pay to spray. If the moisture comes I can plant late and still have plenty of hunting time left in the season.

That may be a good call... Just make sure you get it in before the rain.... Or else that's a pain in the mud.

I'm planting corn opening weekend. Right out of the bag, poured on the ground. Probably cheaper than putting in a food plot when you add everything up.

Trying to decide now when to fertilize.
When I plant or wait till growth gets up and rain is on the way.
