I planted HEAVY this year. Rye was 100 lbs an acre and chicory was about 6 lbs.

Rye is $18/ 50lb bag. Chicory was $32 for a 3 lb bag.

What is that like compared to recommended amounts?

I planted Oats/Wheat for my 1st ever plot and didnt get it as thick as I wanted. So I think next year I will also plant more then the recommended

              This is elbon rye correct?

Its double the recommended mix ratio. 50lbs of Elbon Rye and 3 pounds of chicory per acre in a mix is what is recommended.

Alot depends on planting method too. Drilled....50lbs pf plenty of rye would be good. Broadcast on top...I like to double it.

I doubled the chicory because I'm thinking of spring/summer plots. I want a good chicory crop to be available when it gets hot.

I must say we cheated and irrigated this year do to a dry September. We watered this one a lot and the second on below we didn't water quite as much and it shows. But we have recently gotten up to 3 high pressure pumps and 2 large water tanks. Should be able to water 15 acres in a day now.

Summer plots are in order for you then if you can water!

No doubt, we are going to go 8-10 acres of soybeans and put a sunflower, millet plot about the same size. Gonna put it right next to the lake so we can irrigate without the water totes. Lake is about 25 acres.
