20 and 30 yrds - Same sight pin??

Alright guys,

Every range I have been to (including my back yard) only reaches out to 20 yrds. I have my top pin set and my arrow hits right where I put the pin.

Fast forward to last week. I went to the lease and decided to put 2 targets out, one at 20 and one at 30 yrds. I have never shot my 2nd pin so I took aim at the 30 yrd target using the 2nd pin. I hit about 6-8 inches high, 3 shots in a row. I dropped to the top pin and was hitting bulls-eyes.

The next 20 arrows (10 at 30yrds and 10 at 20yrds) were all shot using the top pin and were hitting right where I was aiming.

My question to you guys is this: Is this normal? Does anyone else' bow do this?

Not a bad thing. You can have a 70 ya pin if you want and have that many pins.. OT just move the last one all the way down and make your pins a little.less cluttered to.look at

Both my Elite and Obsession bows hit the same out to 30 yards using my 20 yard pin. Broadheads hit a little different but not enough to justify a second pin.

Thanks guys, I guess I will set my 2nd pin for 50 and take the 3rd pin off. I like the idea of decluttering my site.

What bow are you shooting, what draw weight and which arrows? Must be fast to be that flat. What is the IBO rating?

With my bowtech assassian its one pin out to about 35 yds

Yep I sure do my top pin is 10 to 30 works every time for me.

Very fast if its dead on with no holdover

I can use one to 40 with little holdover but I don't trust myself to remember that after years of holding dead on and shooting so I keep a pin for every 10yds starting at 20.. Not sure how fast some people's hunting setups are but I had one that was right around 320 and it still required some small amount of holdover to use the same pin from 20-30


I guess it really depends on how big the spot is you call "dead on"
