Sammy with the right setup it can be done. My son hunter age 6 has taken 2 animals with his bow this year 5 animals in the last 2 yrs. His specs are 19 inch draw and 28 lbs and a 2 blade carbon express 100 grain head. I limit him to only shooting animals at 10 yards. The sika doe was taken Monday and penitrated both side of the 170 lb doe. She went 50 yards and expired. Click image for larger version

Ok, I've been reading and now want to know then. My 10 yr old is tall and lanky & shooting a hoyt trykon jr 20" dl and 29#. If I was to limit him to the 10 yd shot, strictly for hunting, what would be the best arrow and broadhead combination?....specific, please...id love for him to have any edge he could get...I have been wondering all these same things.

500 Beman, 500 Easton etc of your choice. And a 100 grain Magnus Stinger. I would leave the bleeders in since they have a back cut in case he doesn't get a pass thru.

Thanks bud. I appreciate it....its a hard place to be in as a dad who wants to keep his kid interested, but at the same time, dont know if you're making the right call by lettin him bloody one up and never recover it.

25# with a 85 grain Magnus Stinger or BuzzCut with bleeders...deadly!!

Sharp cut on contact broadheads for lower poundage bows are the best choice.
