My daughter is ten. Shes shooting mission menace at 21" dl and about 22#. Shes wanting to hunt this yr. She doesnt like guns, but loves bows. I can get her set up at about 10yds hopefully from a doe. Do u think shes pulling enuff wt? Arrows are gt 3555 cut about 24.5"
I was thinking about getting her some 125gr 2 blade stingers. Thoughts? Any other bh i should think about?

Or do i wait til shes pulling close to 30#?

    Thx in advance
She is fine. Stay with a 2 blade like you are doing. it's plenty to penetrate and kill. The problem she will have even tho it'll prolly be quiet as hell are string jumpers. Feed at about 12 yards to combat that. Make sure she knows to aim at the heart. Then post her ldp's and watch the jaws on her drop.

22 is a little low IMO, but with the proper shot placement it could be done. Quartering away only. No broadside!!
      That makes no **** sense.

My son was 12 when I first let him hunt with a bow and it was set at 40#. Texas did away with the minimum but I'd say anything under 35-40# is too light. I know lighter will "get the job done" (in a perfect world) but I like to plan for less than perfect.

I think a broad side shot would be best due to its easier to break a rib head on vs quartering away with a light bow I would think you run the risk of a deflection. If the shot is close and she is aware of shot placement lungs will be easy to get into broadside.

22# ain't enough Bro! I don't care what head or distance. I am surprised by some of the posts on this thread. You don't want to start off the young ladies hunting career by wounding an animal.

Get her crossbow until she can at least pull back 35# minimum!

I am sure someone on here has a crossbow she could borrow. Make sure you cover the safety points on the crossbow

Her wounding an animal and turning her off is my biggest fear. Im liking the crossbow idea. Im gonna approach her about it.

Here is why I say quartering away instead of broadside. The good stuff is easier to get at without risk of hitting a rib or shoulder blade, which would probably stop the arrow right there. If it is quartered away, and you aim for the off side leg and slide it right in the good stuff.

I also say go with a 85 grain BH because she is already shooting super slow. And even if the shots are close(like 10 yards) speed will be a factor. The deer will go all ninja and duck, jump or out run the arrow before it gets there. That will be even worse if you go up in weight.

But with all that being said, she is your kids, so do what you want. I will let this go. Good luck.

                    sounds like the best plan.

Yes it is. Have a friend that kills the hell out of em in Snook Tx with a 30 pound recurve.

Heck if it ain't. My boy killed a pig with his recurve. He was 7 and was pulling a whopping 19lbs.

Make sure she is good enough to point the arrow where it needs to go. Then let her decide on her shot.

The posts saying a 125 gr head won't work but a 100 gr head will are funny

If the arrows are tuned well, the broadhead is super sharp, and the shot is close....go for it.
