You may be torquing your bow

This or your rest could be off a bit

Torquing is gripping it too tight?
        This is my first bow.

If you grip too tight it could be causing your bow to torque try keeping your hand loose and open let the grip of your bow run through the crease of your hand should help

Someone else shot it tonight said it was hitting right for him. I just chalked it up to being my bow setup to me.
              Is that relevant?

Did you have it tuned at a pro shop?

You may not be following through. At close range its one thing but the farther you shoot it becomes more important. Make sure you are not dropping your arm before the arrow hits the target. I try to follow the arrow all the way to the target through my sights. Nothing moves until the arrow hits. When shooting at 40 yards it doesn't take moving your arm much at all.

Brian at On Target in Canton put new Vapor Trail strings and cables on it for me month our so ago. I'd bought it used and needed the draw length changed. It want set right initially. I guy it sighted in art the 20 and 30 yard lines good. He put news settings on and it felt like a new bow. I asked why such a huge difference. He told me three bottom can had been set wrong, the draw length was to short, he fixed that and added another 1/2 to my D loop. I'm 6'7" and ideally need a 32" draw length. It shot current enough I needed to resight it in. Took me a but to correct my form. Now I'm comfortable and consistent at 20 yards. I stretched it out to 44 yards. Shot off 10 arrows, 2 groups of 5, I was hitting a little low. Did holdover for the extra 4 yards.
We was shooting at a Zombie uper torso on the ground. He was at 20 yards shot at him 4 groups of 5 hit him in the head, neck all but 3 shots. One was intentional chest other two were near misses.....

In short, I'd get your bow re-tuned.

Any defects in the tuning process will show up worse and worse the further out you shoot.
If you shoot at 100 yards, it'll be hitting even further left.
If you're hitting low at 40, then lower your 40 yard pin a touch until you're hitting level.

My guess is that your rest is off center.
Take it to a pro shop and ask them to laser tune your rest.
